Hot on the heels of the fantastic Dunnington Street Party and Fair, the fun continues with the Dunnington Village Show, taking place this weekend!

This much-loved event shines a spotlight on the creativity and talent within our community, with a wide range of handicraft competitions for both adults and children. From baking and sewing to photography, painting, and homegrown produce – there’s something for everyone to enjoy, whether you're taking part or just coming along to admire the entries. Come support your neighbours, celebrate local skill, and enjoy a friendly, community atmosphere.

Agenda

  • 8:30am - Reading Room open for exhibits
  • 10:00am - Closing time for Children’s Competitions
  • 10:20am - Closing time for Adult’s Competitions
  • 10:30am - Judging commences
  • 1:30pm - Reading Room open for viewing of exhibits
  • 1:30pm - Teas and cakes being served
  • 4:00pm - Reading Room closes
  • 4:00pm - Entrants can collect their entries

Vegetable Categories

  • 6 Runner Beans (same variety)
  • 3 Beetroots (same variety with leaves on)
  • 3 Carrots (same variety with leaves on)
  • Giant Marrow (to be judged by weight)
  • 3 Onions (same variety)
  • 1 Round Lettuce
  • 3 Potatoes (same variety)
  • 3 Tomatoes (same variety)]
  • 1 Cucumber

Flower Categories

  • 3 Dahlias (in vase)
  • 2 Gladioli Spikes (in vase)
  • 6 sweet peas (in vase)
  • Selection of outdoor garden flowers (in vase)

Needlework Categories

  • A cross stitch picture of a daisy in a vase (size 6 inches by 6 inches)
  • A coloured ladies handkerchief embroidered in the corner with a white rose

Sewing Categories

  • An apron (pinny ) suitable for a child aged 5-7
  • A Jewellery Roll

Knitting and Crochet Categories

  • A knitted Tea Cosy
  • A crochet hat

Woodworking categories

  • A Magazine Rack
  • A small stool

Photography

  • A colour photo of Dunnington
  • A colour photo of the seaside

Baking

  • 4 Fruit Scones on a Tea plate
  • A Date and Walnut Loaf

Art Work

  • A painting of a case of flowers
  • A painting of a landscape

Children’s Competition

  • A Cactus
  • 2 Blueberry Muffins
  • A Drawing of a mode of transport

Rules

  • All entries must be the entrants own work
  • Entries must have been produced in the last 12 months
  • Please put child’s age on the back of their drawing
  • Children’s entries to be at the Reading Rooms by 10am on the day of the show
  • Adult Competition entries to be at the Reading Rooms by 10.20am on the day of the
    show
  • Entrants cannot collect their entries until 4pm on the say f the show
  • Please make sure that you state that you want your entry returned
  • The Judges decisions are final
