Dunnington Parish Councillor Vacancy - Notice of Vacancy
A vacancy has arisen on Dunnington Parish Council, following the resignation of Councillor Swallow. Residents now have the opportunity to call for an election or, if no election is requested, to see the position filled through co-option.
Parish Council Notice of Vacancy (November 2025)
The official notice, published on 21 November 2025 by Parish Clerk Sophie Durham, states that any ten electors from Dunnington Parish may request that an election be held to fill the seat. This request must be submitted in writing to the Returning Officer at City of York Council no later than 11 December 2025.
If an election is triggered, it will take place no later than 18 February 2026, in line with national election rules. If no request is made by the deadline, Dunnington Parish Council will move forward with co-opting a new councillor.
