Unknown Tommy Soldier Silhouette Installed for Remembrance Day

The Parish Council has placed the Unknown Tommy soldier outside the doctor’s surgery for Remembrance Day, overlooking the Village Cross.

In preparation for Remembrance Day, the Parish Council has placed the Unknown Tommy soldier silhouette on the railings outside the doctor’s surgery. From this position, the figure looks out over the Village Cross - a fitting spot of quiet reflection at the heart of the village.

Several residents had suggested positioning the soldier at the Cross itself, but because the Cross is a Grade II–listed monument, it was not possible to securely fix the silhouette there without risk of damage. The new location allows the soldier to stand watch nearby, honouring those who served while preserving the integrity of this historic landmark.
