Dunnington’s Iconic Red Telephone Kiosk Saved for the Community

Published:

The newly-adopted phone box on York Street.

Dunnington Parish Council is pleased to announce that the traditional red telephone kiosk on York Street has now been purchased from BT and will remain a feature of the village for years to come.

The kiosk, a classic K6 design, is a familiar part of Britain’s streetscape and an enduring symbol of village life. Although the telephone equipment has been removed, the kiosk itself has been formally transferred to local ownership and will be maintained by the Parish Council on behalf of the community.

By taking on responsibility for the kiosk, the Parish Council has ensured that this piece of Dunnington’s heritage will be preserved and enjoyed by future generations.

Residents are asked to contact the Parish Council if any damage or maintenance issues arise.
